Visiting Krakow

Wow...was I in for a surprise!  Krakow, Poland, was not what I expected.  It was clearly more beautiful in person than I had seen when looking online for places to photograph.  The city is well preserved as it served as a major station for the Nazi's, so the city was not destroyed by bombs as other European cities had been.

Our hotel, The Doubletree by Hilton, was very nice and included a spa with the saunas, hot tubs, and steam room.  After a full day on our feet, it was perfect to come back and relax.  We spent some time wondering the streets and market squares on our own.  We also did the horse and carriage ride around the old city and the golf cart tour through the Krakow Ghetto, Jewish Quarter, and by Schindler's Factory which helped take a load off my feet.  Krakow was also the seat to many Kings and Queens who lived at the Wawel Castle before they moved to Warsaw.  The Vistula River runs beautifully along the Wawel Castle and Cathedral creating an awesome foreground for photos of the castle.
