Zion's Birthday!

I learned this morning that yesterday, November 19, 1919, Zion became a National Park.  What better way to celebrate than to share a bit of beauty from this awesome park.

The best way to view these is by clicking on one of the photos and view in the slideshow mode.

Night Vision

The Southwest is just as incredible during the night as it is during daylight.  The sky fills with an unbelievable number of stars.  The mountains create beautiful silhouettes across the skyline.  With the earlier sunset this time of year, it makes night photography a little less strenuous.  John loves being out at night, and, although I drag my feet, I'm always glad I go.  You never know what you are going to capture at night.  During editing, I'm always surprised and amazed how beautiful the photos are.

The Grandeur of Zion

What a wonderful trip we had with my husband's mom and stepdad to Zion National Park.  They were awed by the beauty of this park.  We stayed at our favorite little resort, The Desert Pearl Inn,  enjoyed walks in the park, soaking in the hot tub, and great meals at all the restaurants in town.

We managed this time to get a little closer to the fall color change.  A few yellows were coming through.  Up in the higher altitudes, we did run into some reds as well.  If you've never traveled to the Southwest, it is absolutely amazing.  The photos hardly do it justice, but I've tried really hard to capture the essence and feelings that I have when I'm there.  Please click a photo to open them up, they are so much better when viewed larger.  I'll have to do another post from this part of the trip...there were just too many good shots to share all at once.

The Gift

Delivered this week, a gift I never expected arrived in the mail.  This story begins, it seems a lifetime ago, when I worked at Owens Comm...
