Merry and Bright

Merry and Bright's 2014 Adventures

My little elf visitors aren't nearly as mischievous as many I've seen, but they've been fun to have around.

Knock, Knock...Who's There...Merry...Merry Who...Merry and Bright!

That's who I found at the door on Thanksgiving.  Merry arrived bringing Christmas Cheer and a new friend, Bright.

Their first order of business was to help finish up with the decorating.  Elves have their own way of doing things.

A little elf mischief!

Marshmallows are elves favorite food...well, that and syrup!

EBONY....NOOO!  Bright is not a mouse!
Elves who play at night are at the mercy of stalking kitties.

Well....isn't that what reindeer are for!

If the hat fits!  Only 10 more days!

They must have marshmallow ponds at the North Pole?

 Loves music!

 'Lil Bright loves marshmallow baths.

Listening to Christmas carols on the piano is a favorite activity!

A Different Christmas

This Christmas is going to be a little different for all of us because for the first year both of our girls will not be home.  With family and jobs of their own now, it's getting hard for the kids to get home for Christmas.  I knew this day was coming, being prepared is a whole other story.  I don't think we're ever ready for things to change when it comes to our children.  However, it's inevitable...change happens.   The kids will not be able to join us for Christmas this year.  I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the days of activity without their excitement and voices, explaining to everyone why they aren't there.  I'm sure in all the celebrating, I'll have moments of pure lose when I will miss them so much.  I pray their Christmas is blessed and happy, full of lots of love and joy.

John and I played Santa with a car load of gifts and delivered them to the kids last week.  It was a good weekend and I'm so glad we were able to go.

Side Trip to Bryce

Can't believe it's almost Christmas!  With all the holiday activity, I've been a little behind finishing up our trip photos from October.

We spent 5 days in Zion National Park, but while there, we took a daytrip to Bryce Canyon.  It was a beautiful day...perfect weather for our little excursion.  My in-laws were with us and seeing the canyon for the first time, they were amazed.

A Vintage Christmas

I know I've written about St. Charles, MO's, Christmas festival before.  But, it's one of my favorite Christmas activities.  And, anyone, who has visited us during Thanksgiving, has had the opportunity to join us.  There's just something about stepping back in time, taking a moment to breathe in the sights and sounds of Christmas, to remember the reason we even celebrate Christmas.  Every year, St. Charles kicks off their celebrations the Friday after Thanksgiving.  We love to see all the lights and garland and chat with the Dicken's characters.  I was accused by Scrooge of owing him money and I'd better pay up.  This year, John and I went down in time to see the tree lighting.  We sipped a little spiced wine and did a little shopping where I found two new beautiful ornaments to add to our tree.

This one to represent our beautiful Sapphie.
...and this one to remember getting Ebony last year right before Halloween.  She loves hanging out under the Christmas trees.

Take some time out during this season to do fun things with your family and friends.  It doesn't have to be stressful...remember you are making memories!

The Gift

Delivered this week, a gift I never expected arrived in the mail.  This story begins, it seems a lifetime ago, when I worked at Owens Comm...
