Little Pumpkin Patterns

I didn't realize how much I would miss my fall decorations when I was packing them up and putting them in storage.  But as fall approached, something in our house was definitely missing.  The British people don't really celebrate the changing of the season in the way that we do.  So there's not much in the way of fall decor to purchase.  So I decided to start making a few things to help warm up the house.  I started with these little crocheted pumpkins in a variety of colors.  I think I've finished 12 of them now.  They are kind of addicting.  The pattern includes three sizes and can also be found at my Ravelry.com site.  Pictures are included there to help with instructions.   Go here...http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-pumpkin-patterns.

SMALL PUMPKIN

*Note:  The pumpkins are worked in a standard circle increase using multiples of 7.  You can make them as small or large as you prefer by adding or subtracting your increase rounds.  I sc into the joining stitch as my first stitch of each round, which means I also skip the last sc of each round, slip stitching right over it into my first sc.

Row 1:  Magic Ring, 7 sc in the ring (note: the joining stitch does not count as one of the 7 sc).  Join with slip stitch to first sc. (7)
Row 2:  Ch 1.  2 sc in each stitch around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch. (14)
Row 3:  Ch 1.  (1 sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch), repeat around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch. (21)
Row 4:  Ch 1.  (1 sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch), repeat around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch. (28)
Row 5:  Ch 1.  (1 sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch), repeat around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch. (35)
Row 6-12:  Ch 1.  1 sc in each stitch around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch.  (35)
Row 13:  Ch 1.  (1 sc in next 3 stitches, 1 sc dec), repeat around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch. (28)

Begin stuffing your pumpkin.

Row 14:  Ch 1.  (1 sc in next 2 stitches, 1 sc dec), repeat around.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch. (21)

Row 16:  Ch 1.  7 sc dec.  Join with slip stitch to beginning stitch.  Leave approximately 3 feet of tail. (7)

For a shorter or taller pumpkin subtract or add to rounds 6-12.

With darning needle and about 3 ft of yarn, sew the opening closed.  To form the wedges, wrap the tail around the sides of the pumpkin, insert the needle through the bottom hole of the pumpkin and push the needle back through the top hole, pull slightly to tighten.  Do this for each section.  I made 8 sections.  Tie off yarn and bury the tail.
