The Cat Toy

So, everybody pretty much knows we have a new kitten.  Well, she's still behaving like a kitten, but she is almost a full grown cat now.  I was crocheting a bunny and had made feet that I didn't end up using.  Well, Ebony decided she loved these little bits of crochet parts so I decided to make some toys of her own.  I came up with this little mouse pattern.  She loves them...yeah, we're up to four of them!  We find them all collected in our bedroom when we wake up in the morning!

Hmmm...not as good as the real thing!

Row 10-14:  1 sc in next 18 sc.  At end of row 14 add 1 sc.  This helps re-center the last two rows.  Begin stuffing mouse.
Row 15:  1 sc in next 3 sc, (1 sc, 1 scdec) x 4, 1 sc in next 3 sc. (14)
Row 16:  1 sc, 1 scdec in next 6 sc, 1 sc, slst in next sc.  Do not tie off.  Finish stuffing mouse.  Use yarn to close circle by weaving in and out of inner sc loops.  Pull together to close hole.  Tie off and weave in end. (8)

TAIL
Connect yarn to behind of mouse,  ch 50, turn, 1 slst in 2nd ch from hook, slst in each chain back to beginning.  Slst to behind of mouse.  Tie both loose ends together and weave in.
EARS (Use whichever ear that works best for you.  I ended up liking the last version best.)
Attach yarn to head with slst, 1ch, 1 sc in next space, slst, tie off and weave in ends.
OR
Ch 3, slst in 2nd ch from hook, sc in last ch, tie off.  Leave long tail to tie to mouse’s head.
OR
Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook.  Tie off.  Using thread ends, attach and tie to mouse’s head.  Weave in ends.
Use embroidery thread to add nose and eyes.
